Mr PVN Raju founded Gland Chemicals in 1974. Thinking far ahead of his time, he pioneered Heparin technology in India in 1960. He also promoted Low Molecular Weight Heparins (LMWHs) and set up India’s first state-of-the-art LMWH Pre-Filled Syringe facility.

He is a past President of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), as well as a Member of IPA, Parenteral Drug Association (USA) and International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.

Honors bestowed on him include

• Entrepreneur of the Year award in 1995 from Rotary International, for his lifetime service to the Indian pharmaceutical industry.
• Prof Y Nayudamma Memorial Gold Medalin 2005 from AP Akademi of Sciences, for his trendsetting promotion of Pharmaceutical
  Technology in India.
• Special Recognition Award in 2006 from South Asian Society on Atherosclerosis and Thrombosis, for his outstanding contributions in utilizing scientific talents in India and fostering academia industry interaction.
• Mr PVN Raju is also a large-hearted philanthropist and is actively engaged in community service.
